Certain provisions of a final rule regarding reporting workplace injuries and illnesses require employers to electronically submit injury and illness data to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). On May 19, 2017, M3 released a Risk Insight (OSHA Electronic Recordkeeping Rule Delayed) regarding OSHA’s intention to extend the 2016 Form 300A reporting deadline for employers. At that time the date of the extended deadline was unknown. OSHA communicated to stakeholders on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 that it intends to extend the OSHA recordkeeping submission deadline for employers to December 1, 2017.
The final rule, Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses, was issued in May of 2016. The rule offered a phased compliance deadline for the electronic submission of employer record forms. The current action proposes to extend the date to December 1, 2017 so the new administration can review the new requirements prior to implementation. The new electronic reporting system is scheduled to be available on August 1, 2017.
