FFCRA: House Passes Legislation

Compliance, COVID-19, Employee Benefits

On Saturday March 14, 2020, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) in response to the recent COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.  This legislation includes provisions related to “Emergency Paid Leave”, additions to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), revisions to particular OSHA standards and also addresses unemployment benefits.

In order to become law, this bill must pass the U.S. Senate and then be signed by the President. Once the bill becomes law, we also anticipate that certain regulatory agencies will be tasked with writing interpretive rules and regulations.

Please be advised that M3 is monitoring the legislative situation closely and will be prepared to provide you with the necessary compliance information as it becomes available.  Until that time, please remember to make sure that you are following all current requirements as related to insurance coverage, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA and your current leave policies.
