ACA UPDATE: Cadillac Tax Repealed

Compliance, Employee Benefits

Both houses of Congress passed and President Trump signed a bipartisan spending bill which included language repealing the Cadillac Tax into law on Friday, December 20, 2019.

The Cadillac Tax was an excise tax on high-cost group health insurance plans. The Cadillac Tax was part of the original passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but was delayed and ultimately never implemented. It has now been legislatively removed from the ACA.

Key Takeaway

With the Cadillac Tax removed from the ACA, you can remove the threat of a future excise tax from your group health insurance considerations.
