M3 Insurance Board of Directors Expands to Nine

Employee Benefits

Four new members approved at recent M3 Shareholder Meeting

Four new members have been named to M3 Insurance’s Board of Directors, including Matt Boray and Amy Olson, senior account executives and partners at M3; Héctor Colón, president & CEO at Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan; and Marsha Lindsay, chair and chief strategist at Lindsay, Stone & Briggs. Appointments were approved on February 16, 2018, at the M3 Shareholder Meeting.

Two of the four seats were new additions to the Board, including one internal shareholder and one external advisor, and two seats were appointed to fill those recently vacated by Tim Valentyn and Jim Yeager. Valentyn was a member of the M3 Board from July 2004 to February 2018, and he also served as chair of the Management Development & Compensation Committee. Yeager’s board term ran from July 2006 to February 2018.

“Jim and Tim each served the M3 Board with distinction, loyalty and friendship. We’re all extremely appreciative of their critical thinking, leadership, and dedication to strengthening M3,” said Mike Victorson, M3 President & CEO.

New External Board Members

Colón and Lindsay fill the two available external seats. Colón was selected in July 2017 to be president and CEO of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, one of the largest nonprofits in the state with more than 900 employees and more than 200 programs. He brings vast experience and success in contract and budget management and a reputation for innovation to M3’s board. As chair and chief strategist at Lindsay, Stone & Briggs, Lindsay provides expertise in marketing, branding and innovation strategies that has helped accelerate growth and drive year-over-year increases in sales, share, margin, and brand strength for a wide variety of clients.

“Both Héctor and Marsha will bring diverse and valuable business insight to M3’s board,” said Victorson. “We are excited and honored to have their talent, experience and fresh perspective to help move M3 forward.”

Internal Board Assignments

Matt Boray and Amy Olson, M3 senior account executives and partners, bring insurance industry expertise and a passion for both client and community service to their new board positions. Boray joined M3 in 2004 and became a partner in 2010. He is a member of the Greater Milwaukee Employee Benefits Council and actively involved with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. He is a past board member and president for Family Service of Waukesha (FSW), and currently serves on the FSW Advisory Council.

Olson joined M3 in 2006 and became a partner in 2015. She dedicates time to mentoring young women as a volunteer leader for the Badgerland Council of the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin and recently concluded two terms of board service with the Children’s Theater of Madison (CTM). She is a past board member and active member of TEMPO Madison, and has also served on The Business Forum (TBF), Madison Ballet and the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) boards. She is also an avid supporter of the United Way of Dane County.

“Matt and Amy are natural additions to M3’s board,” Victorson said. “Both serve their clients with an exemplary level of detail and expertise, and in their shareholder role they have shown their dedication to the future of M3. We are excited to have them grow with M3 in this new capacity.”
